Summer Holiday Adventures: Draw!

Every Wednesday & Thursday, 26 July–31 August, 2–4pm

Sharpen your pencils for a summer of dynamic drawing activities, inspired by our amazing objects. Activities to include:

  • Wacky Still Life – draw something unexpected!
  • Technique and games – learn drawing techniques, and play our drawing games
  • Fantastic Faces – pull a face and draw it!
  • Nature up close – sketch intriguing natural objects
  • Zen Doodling – chill out and doodle
  • Draw to music – what will our mix of music inspire?
  • Meet the artists – sketch with artists in the galleries, and pick up drawing tips


Pick Up Fun Every Day

Begin your museum adventure every day at the Information Desk.

Every day – Pick up sketching materials or one of our free trails

Weekends 2– 4pm – Fun ‘make and takes’, magnifiers and torches (subject to availability)

Your Visit

All our family events are free and drop-in. There is no need to book. £1 donation welcome.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The museum has buggy parking, lifts to all floors, baby changing facilities and family friendly café. A full list of facilities is below.



Accessible toilets can be found on the lower ground floor and the top floor by the Main Staircase.


Fold-up pushchairs can be stored on the ground floor by the Museum entrance. Please visit the desk on arrival.

Baby Changing

We have two baby changing areas, on the lower ground floor and the top floor.

Café and restaurant

Our family friendly café on the lower ground floor offers a lunchbox menu for children. Our rooftop restaurant also offers a child-friendly menu. High chairs are available in both the café and the restaurant. We don't allow food or drink in the galleries, but please feel free to picnic on the Museum forecourt.


The Museum is accessible by ramp from the pavement of Beaumont Street. Wheelchairs are also available at the Information Desk.


Lockers are available on the lower ground floor. A £1 coin is required, but this is refunded. Lockers are large enough for large backpacks.


Our ticketed exhibitions are free for Under 12s and we offer a free exhibition trail for children aged 5+.
